Sanctions
At Menhirs Fate we may give out a variety of sanctions during the conduct process. These will be decided by the Conduct team with input from relevant parties, which may be the Head of a Crew Department or potentially input from the director team when required for serious issues. It is possible that you may be asked to temporarily asked to do something by a crew member that may resemble one of the following things (Such as not return to an area of the game such as a guild or nation) while we assess the situation and decide if sanctions are applied. This is for the safety of all participants involved and while it may disrupt the game we ask that you do as instructed so we are able to process an issue.
These sanctions can be applied to any participant of the game.
Caution
A caution is the initial and lowest conduct sanction that can be given out and is usually for instances that were unintentional or minor. We still want to record such cases because we want to be able to refer to past actions of people in case this establishes a pattern. Occasionally a conduct issue will be an isolated minor incident and a caution allows us to take action to prevent further problems and help a person who may have make a mistake continue to engage in a more positive way.
Sometimes a caution will highlight a potential issue that is small in scope and able to be avoided by restricting an area of game. For these restrictions we may consider things seriousness of the issue, how many people it has the scope to affect and how it may affect ability to engage or perform duties within the game.
If a second conduct report is made either about the same issue or another then we may escalate to a Warning or a Ban depending on the seriousness of the issue.
Warning
A Warning will typically be given for intentional, serious or repeated patterns of unacceptable behaviour. This is the last opportunity before we escalate to a Ban though in rare circumstances we may decide on additional restrictions before banning.
A Warning may also come with additional restrictions similar to a Caution. These restrictions are part of the Warning and breaching them will result in escalation to a Ban. Restrictions are in place both to protect people and reduce the chance of a repeat offence.
Repeating behaviour that generated the Warning will result in a Ban. Additional reports about a participant that has received a Warning may result in a Ban for that participant.
The following cases will be escalated by the conduct team
In serious cases the conduct team will escalate beyond a warning into an immediate Ban. This will happen to protect the safety of participants where an incident.
Permanent Ban
Banning is used to remove people we believe are a significant risk to the safety of our participants. Bans are generally used when we can establish patterns of behaviour when flouting the conduct rules or when an issue is extremely serious.
When we ban someone they will be contacted but the conduct team informing them of the specifics of their ban. We may not give certain details as required by participants involved or at the conduct teams discretion to minimise and prevent recriminations.
If a conduct issue that merits a ban happens while at an event and we are informed then security will remove the person from site. Time will be given to allow the participant to leave and we will attempt to provide support to allow this to happen as soon as possible.
Additional Restrictions
Restrictions allows both us and participants extra ways to protect the safety of our participants. This allows us more ways to customise our sanctions to the nature of the issue and make sure that we will actually be helping to deal with the issue. This may sometimes be termed a Ban such as a Combat Ban.
In the case of certain bans we may inform some members of crew that a player have been banned from an activity e.g a participant has been banned from the Adventurers Guild. We may inform the Adventurers guildmasters of this but we will not inform them of the details of the conduct report. The goal of this is not to bias anyone but to help enforce the terms of the ban.
Examples of additional restrictions
Duration
Sanctions and additional restriction imposed by the conduct team are permanent. Restrictions may be imposed at an event by a HoD and will persist for the remainder of that event where they will be escalated to the conduct team to finalise any information.
