V1.0.7.2
The final rites update! As part of this update the Distract call has been removed for similar reasons to Amplify.
IC reasons for Changes
As part of the ongoing changes we are going to provide an IC explanation of what may have happened to allow you to talk about the changes in character if needed.
For Rites that have been removed we suggest using reasons such as the Fading to explain why you no longer have access to a Rite.
For Rites that have changed we encourage descriptions of the Spheres waxing and waning. This happens naturally with the Spheres and they are generally in a changing state of power that can cause unexpected effects (such as gaining Weavemarks!) so this cycle of power can also be used to explain why effects that draw upon their Sphere have changed
Fable Rites
The Great Reveal is currently not changing however we intend to look into some other mechanics that interact with questioning and this may receive updates at that time
Dressing down Demeanour has not changed but has been reworded to be clearer.
Its behind you has changed to I’m behind you. Similar to Amplify we have removed Distract from the game as a call. This has caused the effect of this Rite to give you a very short invisibility effect.
As luck would have it has changed duration and the effect is consumed whether the target succeeds on their next wyrd draw or not.
Protagonist Bulwark has seen a few changes because of other elements of the game. Rebound as a default affects any call directed at the user. Instead of keeping the cantrip specific version for this Rite we’ve given it the default Rebound that affects any calls. To balance this we have changed it to being able to use Rebound 3 times in the 5 minute duration instead of 5 full minutes of Rebounding in any cantrip. The aim is that this should be focusing the combat to be snappier rather than participants having to try and work out the source of a call during the middle of combat!
Bragging rights has not changed but has been reworded to be clearer.
Athria Rites
Rise my Friends this has received some clarification and improved wording. The broad effect and goal of the rite is still the same
Feast of Flesh has not changed but has been reworded to be clearer.
Whispers of the Dead has not changed but has been reworded to be clearer.
The Graves Breath has not changed but has been reworded to be clearer. The reason for Drain Vigour being a lower Rite level than Drain Focus is because Drain Focus is more likely to completely shut down a character compared to Drain Vigour.
Steel Macabre has been changed to Deaths Macabre. The effect remains unchanged but has been reworded to be clearer
Rebound
We’ve had a few comments around Rebound! To clarify this we’ve added info that says Rebound will only protect the user from a mass call. Rebound does not work on Arrows or Thrown weapons
Obliterate
We’ve added some extra wording to Obliterate to make it clear you cannot rebound, resist or block it. Obliterate is designed to be a call that is very hard to acquire and generally has an extremely specific use.
Identify
We are removing the identify cantrip from the game. Any participant can tell the effects of a magic item by the ribbon attached to it and does not need a skill or spell to reveal this. The crafters guild may be able to help if you acquire an item and are unsure how it works.
While there is no requirement for a spell or skill to find out effects on items now we do encourage people to roleplay when examining or learning about an item!
Forge Rites
We noticed Lightning Strike and Makers flaw were almost identical except Makers Flaw being a lower level. Makers Flaw has been raised to level 4 so that its still competitive as a choice without making Lightning Strike worth less.
Regaining Hit points, Vigour, Focus and Hit points
We have clarified on the Vigour skills, Magicals and Combat rules pages that Vigour, Focus, hit points only regenerate naturally overnight with you starting each day with these back at full. The aim here is to encourage roleplaying and seeking out methods of healing during the day but allowing people to start the day fresh and able to engage immediately if for some reason they were not able to regain these things the night before.
