Greetings adventurers!
We had an exceptional first year in Elandra, taking our ambitious new LARP to the field to be tried and tested by you all. In this short space of time we’ve learned, grown, adapted and improved. We even became multi award winning this weekend! (expect a full post about this very soon, we’re still processing it!)
It’s extremely important to us to lay a strong foundation so that Menhirs Fate can blossom for many years to come.
As Menhirs is only one year old – now is the time for us to take a strong look at our core Values and our Vision to strengthen the foundations of the game before it becomes more difficult to do so.
Ultimately our goals are to increase, enhance and enable roleplay within the game and innovate. So with the great Long Dark, it gave our passionate team ample time to reflect, review and ultimately dissect how the year went – with a particular focus on our Rules System. What worked? What doesn’t hold up? What could be made even better? These were all the questions we wanted to answer.
We are therefore proud to announce the Year 2 Menhirs Rules.Think of it like an expansion for a game; It’s the same world, a lot of the underlying systems and game remains the same, but some things have been optimised, some things have been added and some things have been pruned.
It’s important to note that we are always looking to adapt and improve, this includes decisions or changes we will make in the future. Not everything will work the way we imagine and we are always open to changing things when that happens.
Now, today’s post is not an unveiling of the rules – but rather a preparation of sorts. We’re sure you’ll have a bunch of thoughts and questions once it’s released – as such we’ve prepared a few things for you:
What’s Going to Happen?
Firstly, we will be hosting a preview livestream at 5pm this coming Thursday (12th March) – where a selection of Directors and crew will be on hand to explain in a bit more detail what’s to come with the rules, and where to get more information once the rule changes are released.
Rules Release
The day after the livestream, we will release the Year 2 Rules onto the Wiki. It is likely that portions of the Wiki will become inaccessible while the transfer is in progress, so we encourage people to wait until we make an announcement post before checking it.
This announcement post will also go into more detail on how you can specifically get help both on and off the field, and will summarise the rules changes.
Shortly following the release – we will be deactivating the Character Builder while it undergoes the changes needed to reflect the new rules. Expect an announcement on how this will affect your character(s) to follow.
Responding to Changes
We are sure there will be questions about various aspects of the rules changes, and we’re more than happy to answer them!
The primary official place where we will respond to these changes is via our rules@menhirsfate.com email.
As there is a lot of players and very few moderators – please refrain from trying to get answers on our Discord / Facebook. Send them directly to the email above.
We will also be setting up an area on the field at MF1 where players can ask crew anything regarding these rules changes.
