High in the unforgiving embrace of the Whitescar Mountains, where breath clouds the air and the sky itself feels closer than the ground below, stands a monument of reverence and wonder — a temple unlike any other. Carved from the mountain’s own marble bones and inlaid with veins of silver and gold, the Pilgrims Reach rises like a promise kept between mortals and the divine. Its presence alone is humbling: immense, radiant, and untouched by time, it is a place of pilgrimage, of devotion, and of sacred challenge.
The structure is circular in design, perched on a plateau of stone so smooth and pristine it seems the gods themselves polished it. Its vast dome towers overhead, crowned by a twelve-pointed oculus that opens to the heavens. Through it, daylight spills in like liquid gold, casting shifting patterns across the sanctified floors. On the darkest nights, starlight and snow find their way through the opening, bathing the interior in a cold, celestial glow.
The heart of the temple is a vast atrium where silence carries more power than any sermon. Its floor is a great mosaic, crafted of countless tiles of glass, stone, and crystal, depicting the Twelve Gods entwined in harmony — their forms abstract and eternal, their aspects intertwined. Pillars circle the hall, each carved in the likeness of a god, their symbols set in precious metal, their eyes seeming to follow all who pass beneath. Around this sacred space, twelve shrines radiate outward in perfect symmetry, each a space wholly devoted to a single god, and each different as fire is from ice. Each shrine is tended individually — twelve in total — whose members have dedicated their lives to the rites and customs of their chosen deity. They tend the flames, fill the pools, sweep the mosaics, and keep the rituals alive, welcoming all who come to seek the gods’ presence. Pilgrims often spend days, sometimes weeks, dwelling within the temple, visiting each shrine in turn, offering their prayers, their burdens, and their awe.
