“Within these walls, hope will take root once more.”
A vision has been set forth to transform the lives of those who have, until now, been forced to live in the sprawling refugee encampment outside Hammerplatz. The Hammerplatz Housing for the Dispossessed will provide secure, long-term shelter for hundreds of displaced families, offering them the stability to rebuild their lives and the dignity of a place to truly call home.
The proposed design calls for a single, imposing five-storey building, its four wings enclosing a central courtyard garden where children can play and neighbours can gather in peace. Measuring 1,200 feet on each side, the structure will be fashioned from sturdy red brick with slate-tiled roofing, accented by wooden shutters and windows to give a sense of warmth amidst its practicality. The courtyard itself will be modest yet meaningful, with greenery and benches creating a space of calm. At its heart will stand a small shrine to The Hearth, symbolising not only warmth and sustenance but the bonds of community that will form within these walls.
Strategically located outside the city proper—far enough from the outer defences to keep the walls clear, yet close enough for residents to commute for work.
