From a subtle entrance barely noticeable above ground, the facility plunges deep into the earth, spreading across three initial subterranean levels, with room for future expansion. Its underground chambers are designed with precision, resembling a carefully arranged hospital, where laboratories, storage areas, machinery halls, and offices coexist in strict order. Workers navigate clean, functional corridors that carry the faint tang of reagents, the subtle warmth of furnaces, and the hum of machinery devoted to the refinement of essence and flicker.

Above ground, a small enclosure houses a security team, their presence discreet yet vigilant, ensuring that the work within remains private. Sewer access has been cleverly integrated: a concealed service door leads into the city’s subterranean network, with a hidden grille and lock granting discreet entry directly to the facility. Sound-dampening measures throughout the Crucible ensure that no clamour from experiments escapes into the city above, maintaining both secrecy and the freedom to test unorthodox, even ethically questionable, methods without interruption.

Inside, laboratories teem with instruments, apparatuses, and workstations where new approaches, inventions, and alchemical refinements take shape. Storage rooms hold raw materials and finished compounds, while modest staff accommodations allow researchers to remain close to their work. A basic medical wing provides care for accidents or exposure, its orderly design reinforcing the efficiency and discipline expected in Hammerstadt’s pursuit of progress. The Crucible is a place where innovation thrives in shadow, where discovery and refinement occur removed from scrutiny, and where the city’s ambitions are distilled into every experiment, every creation, and every spark of ingenuity.
