A bold initiative has been put forward to establish the Portavas Naval Academy—a floating campus formed from six purpose-built ships anchored together to offer an elite education in the art and science of seafaring. With space for 70 students and full boarding facilities, the proposed academy would include one large central vessel for housing and gathering, flanked by two medium and three small ships, each uniquely designed to support specialised curricula.
Subjects would range from navigation and star-mapping to ship maintenance, strategy, medicine, and the martial arts of the sea. The academy would train future sailors, officers, and shipwrights in everything from discipline to diplomacy, aiming to prepare its students not only for battle but for life on the water in all its forms. By investing in education before voyage, this proposal seeks to raise a generation of seafarers who lead with skill, knowledge, and shared experience—honouring the proud maritime traditions of Portavas while steering them into the future.
