Cistern-That-Purified-Our-Way
This proposal outlines the construction of a monumental cistern system designed to both purify Syradonia’s sewage and redirect its waste into the Colossal Ant Colony for possible repurposing. The structure would be hewn into an existing cavern, saving on excavation costs, though significant labour will be required to reinforce the walls, lay waterproofing, and carve stone channels and piping to handle the sewage flow.
The engineering focus is on sieving contaminants, especially the strange magical stones and sludge introduced by the Corrupted, which are clogging Syradonia’s lifeblood of tunnels. Heavy bronze grates, mesh filters, and stone sluices will separate impurities, while at the heart of the chamber stands a ritual dais, ringed by carved runes for earth-based weavings. These rites are intended to strengthen the stone, cleanse water of magical taint, and perhaps create new conduits of resilience against corruption. However, what precise effect these weavings will have remains uncertain.
Weaving efforts have already been attempted to secure the ants’ cooperation. A weaving to commune with their minds was performed and failed, leaving Syradonians in doubt: will the ants accept this arrangement, or view it as intrusion? The waste may sustain them, poison them, or provoke hostility — the risk is considerable. Still, the opportunity to turn Syradonia’s waste into something useful, while simultaneously safeguarding its sewage system, is too valuable to ignore.
