The Goliath Fern Forest Sanctuary

This proposal seeks to expand upon the previously approved Goliath Fern Forest (BG.FSM.17) with the construction of The Goliath Fern Forest Sanctuary—a vast, verdant enclosure intended for the comfort and curiosity of all things big. Rooted deep within the mist-cloaked reaches of Ettermora, the sanctuary will be shaped not with walls of stone, but with the natural barricades of the forest itself: towering ferns, thicket-woven bushes, and densely grown undergrowth forming a living barrier both soft and strong.

The purpose of this expansion is simple in spirit and ambitious in scope—to create a haven for large, often-overlooked creatures. Specifically, the sanctuary will welcome, shelter, and study oversized insects, dragonflies, and invertebrates of curious proportion, should such beings be proven to exist. Their presence has long been whispered of in children’s songs and scholar’s margins, but with this sanctuary, the hope is to shift from myth to observation.

The sanctuary’s design will accommodate these potential visitors without disturbing the natural rhythms of Ettermora’s delicate ecosystem. No artificial cages or intrusive mechanisms will mar the landscape—only carefully encouraged growth and cleverly woven flora to coax curiosity and provide shelter. Whether this space becomes home to reality, rarity, or dream, it will stand as a monument to wonder, patience, and possibility.

Even if no such creatures come, The Goliath Fern Forest Sanctuary will still offer researchers, weavers, and wanderers a peaceful retreat among the towering green, and an enduring testament to the belief that sometimes, the world needs to be ready for things it hasn’t yet seen.
