World History Timeline

The history of the world is an ongoing project by the scholars of Elandra. The magic of the Fading has erased so much of what was once known, and much of what has remained is because they are ingrained in the very stories of the nations – the fireside tales, the annual festivals, the art on the walls of the cities… What is known, or at least suspected, is collected here. More can be gleaned from the last 350 or so years, before that there is only guesswork; a patchwork of songs, stories and fragments of art.

The Age of Myth

Stories of old – far beyond memory and books but still spoken of as fact in the oral traditions of Urdrevan and beyond.

• Unknown – The founding of Kairos. The earliest Kairosians spread throughout Southern Elandra, extending their influence into what is now Morvalis.
• Unknown – The Urdrevan People begin rangings through Elandra, from the land that is now the nine nations, to areas of the world that are no longer remembered.
• Unknown – A Precursor Crownlands Empire is formed from warring groups in the regions which are now Valdraeth, Avereaux and the Wonder.

The Age of Legend

A time of known heroes of the Realms whose adventures shaped nations and influenced traditions.
Information about the Age of Legends is limited and much has been lost but great stories are still passed down and can be found in nations across the world.

• 0YG – the Year of the Gods – the Gods revealed themselves to Mortals and create Menhir
• Some time in the 1st Century –  Precursor Crownlands Empire schisms into Valdraeth and Avereaux.
• Some time in the 5th-6th Century – Morvalis Founded.
• Some time in the 6th Century – Evidence of a Avereaux-Valdraeth war.
• Some time in the 7th Century – First stories of The Wonder.
• Some time in the 7th Century – The Hammerplatz-Zweiburg Civil War
• 683 – The Changing Tide; Portavas declares independence from Hammerplatz & Zweiburg.
• 684 – Charterwright Day –  Civil War ends. Hammerstadt is formed as a united state.
• 712 – Syradonia officially founded on the surface.
• Some time in the 8th Century – Evidence of a Portavas-Kairos cold war.
• 798 – Sphere Theory coined by Morvalin-Valdraeth scholars at Vellichor university.
• 831 – Avereaux succession war.
• 835 – The Crownlands Realm formed in the aftermath of Avereaux war to prevent further instability in that region.
• 889 – The Commonweath Realm founded between Portavas, Urdrevan and Hammerstadt to formalise trade agreements
• 900 – The Corruption begins undetected (assumed).
• 943 – The Läbelaicha House of Dusk are overthrown and replaced by the Lacrimosa Family
• 944 – The Sanctuaries Realm founded as a formal alliance after internal power struggles in Morvalis created need for stability externally
• 972 – Big Corrupted attack on Avereaux – Last King of Avereaux killed, Lambert the Bold.

Age of Calamity

• 973 – Official start of the Age of Calamity – simultaneous invasions of multiple nations.
• 989 – The Pact of Nine is first signed, with 5 year delegations to review the agreement.
• 991 – The Fading. Information and history is lost across the known world.
• 1022 – The Corrupted attack Naxara, the capital of Kairos, and are beaten back by the hundreds of Kolossi present in the Gallery.
• 1024 – The Corrupted capture Mystikos, preventing Kairos from properly repairing or creating more Kolossi.
• 1024 – The Pact of Nine remade between the Nine Nations, followed by an attack by the Corrupted that killed all of the Nine nations leaders.
• 1024 – The Threads (Nation Support) are created by an unknown weaving.
• 1024 – The Gods disappear. There is widespread panic as religious ceremonies cease to work and prayers go unanswered.

The Age of Hope

• 1025 – The Gods return and create Haven. The present day.
