Menhirs Fate Event 1 (MF1) was the beginning…

Menhirs Fate Event 1 (MF1) was the beginning of a special story for all of us! We were overwhelmed by the positivity we received from all those who attended – thank you all for being a part of bringing Menhirs Fate to life.
We have also paid close attention to areas we could improve. As a team we were very proud of what we accomplished for a first event and now as we look to Menhirs Fate Event 2 (MF2) we are reviewing feedback from both players and volunteers (crew) to make MF2 even better.
We’ve taken all your responses from player and volunteer surveys onboard and we wanted to communicate some of the key areas we’re actively working on for MF2 right now:
Please bear in mind that this is not an exhaustive list, we’ve got countless improvements being addressed!
Site Layout & Accessibility
The site is LARGE and while we continue to grow into it, we are condensing the distance between important areas.
The Trading Area is being shifted closer to the game area and the majority of the wall will likely be removed.
Introducing closer water points at the centre of town. Taps and better signage will give access to clean drinking water around the guilds. Existing taps will still be in place around the edges of the field.
Better signage across the site, and maps of the site visible in key areas.
And much more! We are in active communication with the Site Team, who now have a far better understanding of our needs after participating in MF1, and are helping us deliver a much better experience for you all. We will share an updated site plan when we have it.
Communication & Time Management
Every team from Nation Support to Games Control have had a tremendous amount of meetings to assess how we organise and deliver plot and game to the players. There are far too many improvements to mention – but we hear you and we’re actively working to remedy them.
Below is an example of one of our main pain points – the bankers guild queue:
Due to first event teething issues the Bankers Guild team were unable to open early for the hours expected on Thursday and Friday.
We’re adding an additional Traffic Management team that will solely focus on getting you onsite, allowing the crew to focus on their own tasks!
The Bankers Guild will be opening earlier Friday before Time In to allow you more time to get your resources (times to be announced)
There’s lots more exciting things happening in and around the Bank, even if you are queuing – it should be more fun!
The excitement of getting brand new resources is of course a big reason for the queue – but we encourage those that do not need their resources urgently, to consider visiting the bank in off-peak times.
Breaks for our hard working volunteers. We may well close the bank or other guilds “for lunch”. This will be signposted – come back in an hour.
Pre – Event Information
You’re seeing it! We’re implementing a more robust timeline of announcements, so that you are kept in the know, especially around important information regarding site access, traffic safety and camping regulations.
Alongside this announcement we now have Site Rules & Regulations on the website which we strongly encourage you to read before attending MF2
What’s also important is game information! We aim to deliver plenty of important key information about what you should know going into MF2
Our wiki has been overhauled so it should be far easier to navigate on any device. Improvements and additions to wiki content are also being continually addressed.
Along with wiki improvements, we’re also working towards improving how rules are trained to Players and Crew both between events and at events, we’re also actively recruiting more Player Refs on the field to help you… which is a great time to remind you all that we’re actively recruiting!
If you are willing to be the arbiters of Menhirs Fate rules on the field to allow smooth gameplay and address issues and clarifications – please apply here
None of this would happen without our Crew, and while they did a phenomenal job delivering MF1, we want to ensure they’re able to deliver this level of plot and game at every event. That means treating them exceptionally well!
We had a Crew feedback survey, much like your Player feedback survey – and we’re actively looking at the weak points and rapidly improving them. Things such as:
We’re bolstering the ranks of certain teams to ensure they aren’t overwhelmed
Adding Traffic Management so volunteers aren’t pulled from their primary role to do other things they didn’t anticipate
Skirmish team is getting an overhaul so they aren’t run ragged, and will have better placement on the field so there’s less travelling for them
Individual team focused improvements.
We can’t wait for you to join us at MF2 and we hope it’s even smoother sailing this time. As always we very much value your feedback. If you have any issues or queries the best way to reach us is either the contact form on our website or by opening a ticket on our official Discord.
